Why design?
As a child, I remember the dreams of becoming an illustrator. From the permanent wall markings and stacks of drawings, I hoped that by taping all my drawings in a notebook I would someday fulfill my dream.
As I've grown older, the incredible opportunity of growth through technology inspired me to switch from sketchbooks and pencils to design software, and now, prototyping.
When I'm not drafting wireframes or conducting team meetings, I'm a dog owner, music enthusiast, and occasional artist. After all these years, my curiosity still inspires me to take a sketchbook and pencil wherever I go.
Why engineering?
I believe there is no one right solution to a problem. As designers we continuously find the most user-centric way to approach solving a problem.
However, it’s important to take things from a couple of different perspectives. As engineers, we continuously focus on skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and big-picture thinking; important aspects that are applicable in my pursuits as a designer.
I have a multidisciplinary curriculum that allows me to cover numerous different ways to solve problems, from working with circuitry during labs, thinking conceptually how human factors impact design, or incorporating logical forms of problem solving.
